Candidates for the 2016 Carl Fricks Sportsmanship Scholarship Announced

Aeneas, Solomon and the Class of 2015
The Sportsmanship Scholarship Class of 2015

The St. Louis Sports Commission will award $15,000 in scholarship money – including a $10,000 top prize through its Carl Fricks Sportsmanship Scholarship later this month. Awards will go to deserving St. Louis area high school seniors who exhibit outstanding sportsmanship on the field of play.

While the Carl Fricks Sportsmanship Scholarship Committee will meet this month to determine the actual awards recipients, I want to take this time and space to recognize the 63 St. Louis area young people who have made sportsmanship a priority in their athletic lives.

No matter the outcome of the committee’s decision, each of the 63 young people and their families are officially invited to the 2016 Musial Awards on Saturday, November 19 at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis. The night where we celebrate the greatest stories and moments of sportsmanship would be missing something without these wonderful young people in attendance.

Below is the full list of Sportsmanship Scholarship candidates and the area high school they attend. Our communities are raising and nurturing good kids and we all should know and celebrate who they are.

Scholarship winners will be announced April 30. In the meantime, have a look at the list below. Some kids you may know, others you may not. Either way, take comfort in knowing there are good kids doing good…where we live.
